the clinometer and a measuring device (tape measure, string, ruler etc.) and your knowledge of trigonometry to calculate the distance from the top of the clothes line (or top of a large tree if there is no clothes line) in your back yard to the nearest corner of the roof of your house or dwelling place (diagram supplied).
